The La Plata County TRACK Program Teaching Responsibility And Choices to Kids In the year 2000, new mandates were handed down to School District 9-R from federal and state government. Members of the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office and the Durango Police Department met with the Durango 9-R health curriculum committee to evaluate the D.A.R.E program. It was decided that a brand new program would be implemented. With work and ideas from everyone involved, T.R.A.C.K. (Teaching Responsibility And Choices to Kids) was chosen as the new acronym and platform for the new curriculum. The TRACK Program is now taught to all of the kids in La Plata County (Durango, Bayfield, and Ignacio) just before they go to Middle School.
